COVID Update for November 2 - November 8
Dear KCS Families,
In observance of Veteran’s Day, there will be no school for students or staff on Wednesday, November 11th. Thank you to all who have served!
As communicated earlier in the year, fully remote KMS and ALB students will have the opportunity to move to a Plan B cohort (2 days/week in-person instruction) at the end of the first semester. KMS and ALB will be sending out information to fully remote families in the coming days for families to make their "declaration to return" for the upcoming semester beginning January 5, 2021.
Please note that there will be no curbside meal service on Friday, November 13th at ALB. Cabarrus Maintenance will be replacing all the ceiling tiles in the kitchen. KMS will still be open for curbside service from 12:00-1:00. All remote students can pick up meals this Friday at KMS.
As a reminder for KMS and ALB students, for the week of Thanksgiving, Cohort A will report for in-person instruction on Monday, November 23rd, and Cohort B will report for Tuesday, November 24th. All schools are closed November 25th-November 27th for Thanksgiving break.
For the week of November 2 through November 8, KCS had 4 new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. Revised guidance from CHA and DHHS has recommended 37 quarantines related to these cases.
The CDC updated the language for the definition of “close contact” in late October. Rather than defining “close contact” as 15 consecutive minutes, it recommends quarantining those having contact for 15 minutes over the course of a 24-hour period. We expect that this will lead to an elevated number of quarantines as we follow this new guidance for the health and safety of our students and staff. For us that is #KCSEssential!
