The Kannapolis City Board of Education has named Ms. Ingrid Doehle to become the new principal of Shady Brook Elementary School beginning in June. She will replace Mr. Will Gibson who is moving into the principal role at Jackson Park Elementary School.
Ms. Doehle has been in Kannapolis City Schools since 2004. During that time, she has served as an Elementary Teacher, ESL Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator and Assistant Principal. As Assistant Principal, Ms. Doehle worked to bridge the gap between community and school with the Latino population. In partnership with two local non-profits, monthly meetings in surrounding neighborhoods have assisted fostering parental supports for homework, promoted greater understanding of school initiatives, and provided education on cell phone safety and healthy lifestyles. Ms. Doehle states she is “most excited to continue the legacy of Shady Brook while building creative, engaged learners through classrooms of tomorrow.”
“Ms. Doehle’s enthusiasm and wealth of experiences have already had a positive effect on the Shady Brook community,” says Dr. Chip Buckwell, KCS Superintendent. “She will do an outstanding job with students and staff in this new role. I met Ingrid in Athens, Ohio at a job fair as a new teacher. It is exciting to see people grow into leaders during their careers and Ms. Doehle has done that every step of the way.”
Ms. Doehle earned her Master of Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, added Curriculum and Administration K-12 through Gardner Webb University, and she holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
