Coat Giveaway warms hearts & keeps children warm all winter
The only thing warmer than the brand new coats being given to Forest Park Elementary students were the smiles that were beaming on every face in the room.
Operation Warm is a national nonprofit agency that selected Forest Park students to receive brand new coats. The program came to the school on February 11th and gave every child a brand new winter coat for free. Operation Warm typically selects two grade levels of students to serve, but when Forest Park’s principal, Martha Motley, explained the need at the entire school, Operation Warm added Forest Park’s request to its wish list and sent it to donors all over the country. The organization received enough responses to provide brand new coats to all of the more than 500 students at the school.
“This is just an amazing experience,” said Forest Park principal, Martha Motley. “To have every one of our students receive a brand new coat is a true blessing, and we are extremely grateful to Operation Warm for giving this wonderful gift to our children.”
Volunteers spent the day fitting every student with the perfect coat in just the right color, and making sure every child could choose his or her favorite jacket. The smiles on the children’s faces told the story and warmed the hearts of everyone at the school. To see a photo gallery of the event, please use this link.
