Martha Motley named new principal of Forest Park Elementary
Martha Motley will become the new principal of Forest Park Elementary School. Motley will replace Josh Sain, who announced last month that he is taking a position with Lincoln County Schools. Motley is currently Forest Park’s Assistant Principal, and she began her career as a teacher at Forest Park.
“I am very honored and excited to lead a school that I love so much,” Motley said. “I have learned so much from educators at Forest Park over the years, and I know and love the students, staff, parents, and community here. Forest Park is a wonderful place, and I am looking forward to this incredible opportunity to continue working with the Forest Park family and making a difference for our children.”
Martha Motley began her education career as a teacher at Forest Park in 1999. During her fourteen years at the school, Motley taught second grade, fourth grade and exceptional children. In 2014, Kannapolis City Schools promoted Motley to the position of District Instructional Math Coach. She served in that role until 2015 when she was hired as an assistant principal at A.L. Brown High School. Motley then became an assistant principal at Kannapolis Middle School before returning to Forest Park in June of 2019 to serve as assistant principal.
Superintendent, Dr. Chip Buckwell, says Martha Motley is an outstanding educator and a wonderful leader. “Martha Motley has been successful at everything she’s ever done. She’s an extremely talented teacher and a caring, compassionate leader. She has the respect of everyone at Forest Park and in Kannapolis City Schools, and she will do an outstanding job as principal. We’re very excited for her and the Forest Park family.”
Motley received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Houghton College in New York. She earned her Master’s in School Administration from UNC Charlotte.
Motley will begin in her new role as principal on January 13, 2020.
