Getting ready for the school bus is about to get a whole lot easier for families in Kannapolis City Schools. The district is rolling out a new mobile app that gives parents and students real time information about bus locations and arrival times.
The app is called “Here Comes the Bus,” and it puts everything related to bus transportation at families’ fingertips. “The new app lets families see exactly when the bus will arrive and even gives them push notifications,” says Kannapolis City Schools’ Transportation Supervisor, Beryl Torrence. “It should make things much easier for parents and students, and we’re excited about putting more information in our families’ hands.”
With the new app, families can see the real time location of their child’s bus on a map. They also will see the scheduled arrival times for their child’s bus and when the bus actually arrives at school and at home. In addition, if families choose, they can receive push and e-mail notifications when their child’s bus is about to arrive. KCS Superintendent, Dr. Chip Buckwell, says the new app is a way for the district to respond to parents’ needs. “We always want our buses to be on time, but we know there are times when buses will be late. We also know it’s frustrating for parents and students if they don’t know when buses will arrive. This app will give our families more information and, hopefully, make things easier for them.”
The new app is available in the App Store and on Google Play. Signing up to follow your child’s bus is easy:
