Kannapolis City Schools Announces Bernard Waugh as New Principal of Kannapolis Middle School 6th Grade

Kannapolis City Schools is excited to share that Bernard Waugh has been named the new principal at Kannapolis Middle School 6!

Mr. Waugh has served KCS students and families for many years, spending more than 15 years as a dedicated teacher at Kannapolis Middle School before becoming assistant principal at Forest Park Elementary. In 2023, he was named the KCS Assistant Principal of the Year in recognition of his leadership and commitment to students. In January 2024, he was named principal of Shady Brook Elementary, where he has continued to build strong relationships and lead with a student-centered focus. 

“Mr. Waugh is a proven leader who is deeply committed to students, staff, and families,” said Superintendent Dr. Sara Newell. “His years of experience at Kannapolis Middle School, combined with his leadership at both Forest Park and Shady Brook, make him an excellent fit to lead KMS 6. We are excited to see the positive impact he will continue to make in our school community.”
