Kannapolis City Schools Announces New Assistant Superintendent and Chief of Schools
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Kannapolis City Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Erin Anderson as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent, and Dr. Jennifer Brinson as the new Chief of Schools.
Dr. Erin Anderson – Assistant Superintendent
Dr. Anderson brings over 25 of experience as a teacher, principal, and district leader. Most recently serving as the Director of Pre-K–12 Curriculum and Title I in Kannapolis City Schools, she has led key initiatives including the adoption of a new literacy curriculum, strategic professional development programming, and cross-departmental alignment to support student achievement.
In her new role, Dr. Anderson will oversee curriculum and instruction, federal programs, instructional alignment, and teacher support throughout the district. She has previously served as principal at Jackson Park and Fred L. Wilson Elementary Schools in Kannapolis, as well as at Harrisburg Elementary in Cabarrus County Schools.
Dr. Anderson holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and an add-on licensure in Educational Leadership from Wingate University. She earned her MAT in Special Education from UNC Charlotte and a B.S. in Elementary Education from Indiana University. She is a two-time Kannapolis City Schools Principal of the Year and a UNCC International Women’s Day honoree.
Dr. Jennifer Brinson – Chief of Schools
Dr. Brinson will lead school performance, leadership coaching, school improvement planning, and strategic accountability across the district. Her previous roles include Director of School Performance and Accountability for KCS and principal of Wolf Meadow Elementary School in Cabarrus County, where she led significant student growth and equity-focused hiring initiatives.
Dr. Brinson has also served as assistant principal, instructional specialist, and classroom teacher, bringing over 30 years of service to public education. She has developed and implemented instructional frameworks, led professional learning communities, and overseen comprehensive testing and compliance programs.
Dr. Brinson holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Western Carolina University, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University, and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development from UNC Charlotte. She was named Cabarrus County Principal of the Year and was the 2020 Wells Fargo Southwest Regional Principal of the Year.
