May Board of Education Recognitions
The Kannapolis Board of Education was proud to honor outstanding representatives from around the district at its May meeting.
Kannapolis Middle School
We are honored to recognize an exceptional student—Michaela—for her quick thinking, bravery, and the deep care she consistently shows for others.
Recently, Michaela found herself in a difficult situation. She noticed that a friend was in medical distress. Even though the friend assured her she was fine and asked Michaela not to tell anyone, Michaela knew in her heart that something wasn’t right. That’s a tough position for anyone—especially for a young person who values the trust of her peers.
But Michaela made a brave and selfless choice. She found a trusted adult on the bus lot and shared her concern. As it turned out, her friend needed immediate medical attention, and an ambulance had to be called. Because of Michaela’s courage and quick action, her friend received the care she urgently needed in a critical moment.
That moment speaks volumes about who Michaela is. She’s not only a thoughtful and kind friend, but also someone who leads with compassion and integrity. Throughout the year, she has consistently shown character traits we teach through our Second Step program—empathy, responsibility, and courage. She is a hard worker, always friendly to her classmates, and rarely seen without a smile. Her positive energy helps start the day off right for everyone around her.
We are incredibly proud of Michaela. Her actions are a powerful reminder of what it means to look out for one another. Her courage, kindness, and strength of character make her a shining example of the very best of Kannapolis Middle School.
