Student Transfers
Transfer season for the 2026-27 school year is open. Please click here to select the most appropriate application.
Completed applications will be reviewed between the time of submission and March xx, 2026. You will be notified at that time.
Out of District Transfers
In select and rare circumstances students may be eligible to enroll in schools outside of the attendance zone for their domicile. Applications will be reviewed and approved based on the safe and orderly operations of schools and student performance. Students are expected to maintain passing grades, acceptable conduct, and regular attendance. Families are responsible for on-time transportation to and from school. Out of district applications for enrollment in Kannapolis City Schools will be considered after MARCH 31, 2026 and will be reviewed based on space availability.
An explanation of Kannapolis City's "Schools of Choice" accessibility policy is as follows:
- There is space available in the school you desire
- You commit to stay at that school the entire school year.
- You provide your own transportation.
Priority will be given to:
- Students who have attended the requested school in the past with satisfactory attendance, behavior, and academic effort
- Students who are entering school for the first time and have older siblings currently at that school
New Hardship and Transfer Requests
Out of district applications for enrollment in Kannapolis City Schools will be considered after MARCH 31, 2026 and will be reviewed based on space availability. Applications will not be accepted after May 1, 2026.
Please note that out-of-county requests for acceptance must be accompanied by:
- Student transcripts/report card,
- Discipline report
- Attendance record
- A release from the school district serving your address
