While students began learning in Kannapolis in one-room schools in 1908, Kannapolis City Schools officially formed in 1935 and continues to operate as one of only a few city school systems in North Carolina.
KCS is proud of its Head Start program, six elementary schools, grades 6-8 middle school, and grades 9-12 high school.
Each of our elementary schools offers magnet programs or other innovative initiatives, from Dual Language Immersion and Global Studies, to A+ Arts, STEM, CTE, and Wellness and Learning.
Partnerships with the NCRC, Wayne Brothers, Atrium Health, and others allow our students to participate in learning gardens, Scientist for a Day programming, and internships/clinicals that enhance student instruction and give hands-on experience.
Our staff and students receive local, national, and international recognition for their achievements. KCS students earn millions in college scholarships each year and have been accepted into top programs in the workforce and military, as well as colleges and universities.
With these outstanding advantages and the tremendous support of our families and community, we are truly CREATING THE FUTURE.
