    KCS Community,

Greetings everyone, we hope you are all doing well!  We are sharing updates and great happenings for KCS as we begin the 2022-23 school year.   As always, please reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

First, we want to thank all of our families and students for an outstanding start to the school year!  Our open house events were well attended across the district and parent interest in what is happening in our schools has been great to start the school year.  Please continue to be involved:  we want you to be heard and supported.  Also, we appreciate all of you who participated in our recent Immunization Clinic (for required public school immunizations).  We had a great turnout and we are grateful that so many families were able to take advantage of an easy opportunity to complete this requirement.  Further, we want to extend a special “thank you” to all of our families who not only support your child’s academic success, but also support your child in extracurricular activities.  So many of our students are already involved in athletics, arts, or various other school activities.  We understand how much time and effort is required of our students to represent their school.  Students and parents, you are appreciated for all that you do.

Secondly, at our September Board of Education meeting, we were excited to recognize numerous KCS students and staff.  Staff and students at McKnight Head Start were recognized.  Further, A.L. Brown Theater teacher Jordan Correll received the Hilbish Ford Teacher-of-the-Month.  Finally, retirees Cindy Brown and Tony Harris were recognized.  We sincerely thank Cindy and Tony for their loyalty and dedication to KCS.

Third, please remember that KCS continues to provide weekly COVID updates on our website.  Included are the number of staff and student positive cases (for the previous week) at our schools.  As a reminder, in a situation where we (along with Cabarrus Health Alliance) detect a group or classroom cluster, we will provide more direct group or individual communication about cases.

Finally, please remember that our first 2022-23 early release day is September 23rd.  Kannapolis Middle School will dismiss at 11:15, A.L. Brown High School at 11:45, and all elementary schools will dismiss at 12:20.  Breakfast and lunch will be available on early release days.  Additionally, our second 2022-23 early release day is scheduled for October 14th.

KCS community, all of you are a part of what we do to help each of our students become successful.  Please stay informed, stay involved and let us know what we can do to help support you.

  • Septiembre 2022,
