Woodrow Wilson Elementary School was one of only 125 schools in North Carolina selected to host a Duke Energy Science Night. The event took place Wednesday, March 11 and was an official event of the North Carolina Science Festival.

Woodrow Wilson’s Science Night featured hands-on activities that focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The activities were designed to engage children and families in science exploration. The event was also supported by more than a dozen A.L. Brown High School students who volunteered to help students with the science activities.

Duke Energy Science Nights are an initiative of the North Carolina Science Festival and serve the mission to inspire future generations of scientists. Support from the Duke Energy Foundation allows the Festival to provide all materials for the activities to the selected schools.

The 2015 North Carolina Science Festival will be held in April and will include hundreds of events throughout the state. Kannapolis City Schools will participate in the Science Festival with multiple science activities taking place throughout the weeks of April 10th through 26th.  The NC Science Festival is a two-week series of events that showcase science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). It includes hands-on activities, science talks, lab tours, nature experiences, exhibits, performances and other events, hosted by many different organizations within North Carolina. The Festival is produced by Morehead Planetarium and Science Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
