Special needs students at Shady Brook Elementary received a wonderful surprise thanks to generous community supporters. Academy Sports and Outdoor and McMullan and Company Real Estate donated nine brand new bicycles and helmets for Sarah Chapman’s entire class of special needs students. Shady Brook Teacher Assistant, Cynthia Fink, arranged for the surprise.

The school delivered the bikes when the students returned from a field trip. The students and parents thought that just one lucky child would receive a bike and helmet. However, Mrs. Fink and her husband had worked with the donors to make sure that all nine children would go home with bikes and helmets. Mrs. Fink unveiled the bikes in front of the parents and students and saw the look of joy on their faces. Click here to see a video produced by WBTV.

It is a wonderful example of the dedication of KCS employees and the tremendous generosity of community partnerships that help Kannapolis City Schools keep Creating the Future.
