Students from Jackson Park Elementary School made a special trip to A.L. Brown High School to watch their teachers play the A.L. Brown Boys’ Varsity basketball team. It was a reward for winning the district’s Math Madness competition.

The Math Madness contest was part of the district’s strategic focus on improving math achievement at all grade levels. Students from all KCS elementary schools worked to complete math problems during the month-long competition. They competed to see which school could successfully answer the most problems per student. Jackson Park won the competition. As a reward for their success, Jackson Park students got to visit A.L. Brown High School and watch a basketball game between their teachers and the A.L. Brown Boys’ Varsity basketball team. They also enjoyed performances by the A.L. Brown High School Chorus and the A.L. Brown Theatre Arts Department.

“It was a great experience for the students and a great way to make math and learning fun,” said KCS Superintendent, Dr. Pam Cain. “It was also a perfect fit for our strategic focus on math. Our students and teachers did a wonderful job, and I am extremely proud of them.”
