The Kannapolis City Board of Education was proud to honor outstanding representatives from Kannapolis Intermediate School at its February meeting.

Meredith Hall:  Meredith Hall is a 6th grade student at KIS who truly loves going to school each day. Although she has difficulty picking a favorite subject, she loves history more than anything else. She enjoys traveling to historical places, like Charleston, with her family. Another passion for Meredith is caring for animals, and she someday wants to work in China saving the pandas. Meredith’s teacher, Mrs. Wilson, says “she is every teacher’s dream student, coming each day prepared to learn and ready to give her best efforts.”

Isaac Jose Ramos:  Isaac is a 6th grader at KIS. He is a self-directed learned who works hard and strives for perfection in all areas of his education. His compassion, honesty, and kindness are obvious at school, and he encourages his classmates to exhibit these same qualities. Isaac is well-liked by his peers and always willing to help and work with others. He was voted by his classmates to earn the Early Act First Knight accolade for the character trait of honesty. Isaac strongly values family and frequently communicates how important his family is to him.

Equanda Moore:  Equanda Moore is a remarkable volunteer whose heart is full with a passion for children. As a mother of two, she has the ability to speak from experience in a manner that is both firm and fair. What truly stands out about Equanda is how she keeps children rooted in love while given them every opportunity to sprout and branch off to the next stages of their lives. For many years, Equanda has willingly given her time to serve on the Parent Advisory Committee at KIS as well as working with the PTSO at the middle school. She has a genuine missionary spirit, giving whatever time she has to work with children throughout the day. Besides giving her time to Kannapolis City Schools, Equanda works for Cabarrus County Schools as the In-School Coordinator for Concord Middle School. Recently, she was honored with the Impact Through Education Award further showing her efforts to plant the richness of education within everyone she encounters.

Leslie Williamson: Leslie Williamson is not only the face of KIS but also of the community. She can be seen working the athletic events at Kannapolis Middle School, supporting our Wonders in academics and athletics, coaching cheerleading, working closely with her church family, and volunteering with the YMCA. Leslie began her experience at KIS as a parent and PTSO President. She did such a great job, the school asked her to take the full-time position of front desk receptionist. She is a multitasking phenom with a strong connection to students and families at KIS. Leslie takes great care of the children, while meeting the needs of the parents and staff. When she is not busy with all her community activities and school responsibilities, Leslie loves to spend time with her husband and two children.

Kristen Logan:  Kristen Logan is a 6th grade teacher and currently in her 11th year teaching at KIS. She creates a loving and compassionate learning environment while challenging them to meet her high expectations. Beyond the context, Kristen also teaches her students good character. One way she models this is by seeking out those who are not outgoing or may feel excluded. Kristen is the 6th grade math lead and she is on the Positive School Correlate at Kannapolis Intermediate. She is a wonderful partner teacher and an excellent mentor to new teachers. Kristen’s peers describe her as “sweet, genuine, calm, level-headed, honest, dedicated and extremely thoughtful.” She is a lifelong learner who is currently pursuing her master’s degree in school counseling. Her infectious smile and contagious positive spirit impact students and teachers every day at KIS.
