The Kannapolis City Board of Education has authorized a task force to review the system’s school uniform dress code policy (6050). The board approved the task force during a meeting on October 20. The uniform dress code policy was first adopted in April of 2004. It has been revised four times over the years to adapt the policy to different grade levels. The board wants to ensure the policy is consistent throughout the grade levels and wants input from parents, staff, principals, and community members about the school uniform dress code.

The task force will include a principal, parent, and staff member from each grade span (elementary, intermediate, middle, and high) as well as central office staff, a school board member, and a representative from the Kannapolis Police Department. The group will review Policy 6050 and report to the full Board of Education when it completes its evaluation. The board did not set a specific timetable for the task force’s review.
