The Kannapolis Board of Education was proud to honor outstanding representatives from Fred L. Wilson Elementary School at its October meeting.

We are very grateful to the Mary Beth Ballantine Burgess State Farm Insurance Agency for donating $100 to the Fred L. Wilson library in appreciation of the honorees.

Zaeda Murray:  Zaeda Murray is a kind and helpful fourth grade student at Fred L. Wilson Elementary. She has a heart of gold and always goes above and beyond to be friendly towards others. Zaeda has worked extremely hard to reach her fullest potential at school and finds great joy in making her teachers and mom proud of her. Zaeda’s favorite subject is math, and she loves to practice math and reading at home. Zaeda wants to be a teacher after she attends college. Her principal says she hopes to still be at Fred L. Wilson when Zaeda graduates from college because she cannot imagine a better teacher with a bigger heart.

Jacob Devoe:  Jacob Devoe is a respectful and hardworking fourth grader at Fred L. Wilson Elementary. He loves learning and is always ready to greet his teachers with a great big hug. Jacob is always helpful and is a good friend and role model. Some of his hobbies include playing video games, conducting science experiments, and learning more about his friends. Some career interests for Jacob include being an astronaut, a police officer, or an engineer, as he says his mom thinks this would be an excellent job choice for him.

Barbara Best:  Barbara Best is an outstanding grandmother and PTO board member at Fred L. Wilson. She is a dedicated volunteer who is always willing to help with anything. She is the “Box Top” queen, can count over a thousand boxes of doughnuts for fundraisers, and the kids love having her help with duty free lunch. Barbara even chaperoned an overnight field trip for more than eighty fourth graders last year, which shows how brave she is. Barbara has six children, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She has had three generations to go through Fred L. Wilson. Barbara enjoys reading and volunteering with the PTO.

Anita Massey:  Anita Massey is an EC Resource Instructional Assistant and Bus Driver at Fred L. Wilson, where she has worked for eleven years. She absolutely loves her job and this is evident by the smile she always has on her face. Anita comes to work every day with the attitude that today is a great day. She is always helpful and resourceful. Anita does an excellent job working with students, pushing them to reach their full potential. She works to teach all students that it is important to put forth their best and effort and that no matter what, she loves them. Anita is truly one of a kind and a tremendous asset to everyone at Fred L. Wilson.

Lauren Dobbin:  Lauren Dobbin is a third grade teacher at Fred L. Wilson. She was originally pursuing a teaching degree in high school history but is glad she changed her career path because she loves working with young students. Many people see Lauren as a leader at Fred L. Wilson. She serves on several committees and is co-director of the school’s Academic Learning Center. One of her colleagues stated, “Lauren is an exemplary teacher who always puts her heart into her teaching. She is a dedicated teacher who always goes the extra mile for her kids and is truly invested in what she does.”

In honor all of these outstanding representatives, the Mary Beth Ballantine Burgess State Farm Insurance Agency donated $100 to Fred L. Wilson Elementary School to buy books for the school’s media center. We thank the Mary Beth Ballantine Burgess State Farm Insurance Agency for its wonderful generosity.
