Kannapolis City Schools’ Coordinator of Behavioral Health has been honored for her outstanding contributions to children. Angela Ward earned the Anne Laukaitis Champion for Children Award from the Cabarrus Partnership for Children. The award is named for the Partnership’s previous director and honors someone with leadership qualities that have improved conditions for young children, families, and communities. Barbara Sheppard, health initiatives director for the Cabarrus Health Alliance, presented the award. She praised Angela Ward for her tireless dedication to helping children and families in need. Sheppard said that Ward works relentlessly, understands the power of community partnerships, and advocates for the children who are not normally considered. Sheppard said that Ward was extremely deserving of the honor for all she has done to help children and families in the community.

Angela Ward has been with Kannapolis City Schools since 1994. She shared the Champion for Children Award with the Rev. Donald Anthony of Grace Lutheran Church in Concord.
