KCS students and staff spend the first week of March celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss (Theodore Geisel).  The premiere author of children’s books would have turned 111 years old on March 2nd. KCS schools celebrate by reading Dr. Seuss books and having volunteers from the community come read to students. Students and staff also dress up like famous Dr. Seuss characters, including the Cat in the Hat, the Lorax, and Horton Hears a Who. The activities are part of Read Across America week, which celebrates Dr. Seuss’s birthday and is marked each year by schools across the country.
