Kannapolis City Schools graduate, Tavis Bailey, is headed to the 2016 Summer Olymics in Rio. He qualified for the Olympics during the U.S. Track and Field trials in Eugene, Oregon.  


Bailey is a champion discus thrower. He graduated from A.L. Brown High School in 2010 and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee where he was an outstanding student and star athlete. Bailey is the second A.L. Brown graduate to earn a spot in the Olympics. Championship hurdler and 1989 A.L. Brown graduate, Melissa Morrison, won two Olympic Bronze medals.
