Josh Sain will become the new principal of Forest Park Elementary. He will replace Nick Carlascio who was promoted to become the new principal of Kannapolis Middle School. Mr. Sain is currently the Assistant Principal of Shady Brook Elementary School in Kannapolis.

Josh Sain came to Kannapolis City Schools as the Curriculum Coordinator of Shady Brook Elementary in March of 2014. As Curriculum Coordinator and Assistant Principal of Shady Brook, Mr. Sain has been instrumental in many academic accomplishments. He helped lead Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) efforts at Shady Brook, and he has directed multiple reading initiatives. Mr. Sain also has been one of the leaders in Kannapolis City Schools in bringing a special system of academic and behavioral support to all students in the district. The system is called MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support). Mr. Sain is considered an expert in North Carolina on MTSS. He has been asked to train educators from all across the state on how to use MTSS, which helps to improve both academic achievement and student behavior. Josh Sain also has an extensive background working with Exceptional Children.

KCS Superintendent, Dr. Chip Buckwell, believes Josh Sain is the right person to lead Forest Park Elementary. “Mr. Sain has done an outstanding job at Shady Brook. He’s respected all across the state for his knowledge and leadership skills, and he has a wonderful record of success. He also has an excellent educational background and is ready to take the next step in his career. I know he will do a fantastic job as principal of Forest Park.”

Josh Sain says he is looking forward to the opportunity to lead Forest Park. “I’m excited about making the move to Forest Park, and I’m honored to become the principal there. I’m looking forward to working with the students and staff, but I also will miss everyone at Shady Brook. I have loved my time at Shady Brook, and I am grateful to everyone at the school. I’ll use my Shady Brook experiences to help me lead Forest Park, and I’m looking forward to starting a wonderful new chapter and becoming part of the Forest Park family.”

Prior to joining Kannapolis City Schools, Josh Sain taught in Lincoln County and in Newton-Conover. He earned his Bachelor of Science in History and Secondary Education from Appalachian State University. In 2013, he graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership Studies.
