Because of the large number of days missed due to snow and ice this winter, KCS is adjusting its schedule for the rest of the school year. In order to preserve Spring Break, KCS will make up lost instructional time by adding minutes to the end of each school day. KCS will extend the school day by twelve (12) minutes at all elementary schools. That will provide enough instructional time without losing Spring Break. The instructional day is already slightly longer at KIS, KMS, and A.L. Brown High School, so extra minutes will not need to be added at those schools.

The new school schedules will begin Monday, March 2nd and will run for the rest of the school year. KCS will keep all starting times the same in the morning and dismiss students twelve minutes later each afternoon. The revised school schedules are listed below.

KIS and KMS **(Schedule remains unchanged)

7:15 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

8:10 a.m. – 2:52 p.m.

A.L. BROWN HIGH SCHOOL **(Schedule remains unchanged)

8:40 a.m. – 3:25 p.m.

McKNIGHT HEAD START **(Schedule remains unchanged)

8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

KCS also has full make-up days scheduled for Friday, March 27th and Monday, May 25th (Memorial Day). Both those days will operate on the revised schedule of twelve extra minutes at the end of the school day.
