Forest Park student wins award in Mothers' Day Essay Contest

Congratulations to Victoria Hernandez of Forest Park Elementary School! She won second place in the Mothers’ Day Essay Contest sponsored by Mary Beth Ballantine’s State Farm Insurance Agency. Victoria is a student in Amy Irvin’s fourth grade class at Forest Park.


Nearly 200 students from public and private schools all over Cabarrus County competed in the Mothers’ Day essay contest. Students wrote about why they think their mothers are superheroes. Victoria’s essay earned second place. Mary Beth Ballantine presented Victoria with her prizes on May 27th. Victoria’s mother was also part of the ceremony. Victoria read her winning essay for her mom, classmates, and teacher. Victoria’s teacher, Amy Irvin, also received a prize from Mary Beth Ballantine.

The Mary Beth Ballantine State Farm Insurance Agency sponsors the essay contest each year as a way to honor mothers, promote the importance of writing, and thank the winning students’ teachers for the important work they do.
