He is known to break into song on the playground, on the bus and during any transition time throughout the day. Jacob is the son of Tricia Wheeler.

Gracie O’Neal:  Gracie is a four year old student and in her second year at Kannapolis Head Start. She has overcome a lot in her short life. Gracie has had three open heart surgeries, but does not let that hold her back. She perseveres and is determined to keep up with her classmates.  Gracie loves to sing and dance and is a friend to all her classmates. She is the daughter of Summer Thomas and Robert O’Neal..

Denise Butler:  Denise Butler is a four year old teacher and has worked for Kannapolis Head Start for the past 17 years. Denise works hard to create a classroom atmosphere that is based on community partnerships, structure, stability and consistency. She is passionate about helping children learn to solve problems through the use of social stories, social-emotional games and books that support overall social development. Denise says she believes “children need committed and dedicated teachers.” She strives to be that teacher for each and every child and family she works with.  When not working with children, Denise enjoys singing at her church. She has four children, Greg, Summer, Jessica and Jariah, and two grandchildren.

Rebecca Castor:  Rebecca Castor is a four year old teacher’s assistant and has worked at Kannapolis Head Start for the past 16 years. She has worked with Mrs. Butler for many years. Rebecca’s philosophy for learning is that “each child is unique and every child learns in a different way”. She is a valuable asset to the Kannapolis Head start. Rebecca has two children, Megan and Lee. She also has one grandchild and is expecting her second soon.

Kim Peugh:  Kim Peugh is a dedicated and reliable volunteer at McKnight Head Start. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to staff members with whatever need may arise. Kim spends time working in classrooms, assisting with arrival and dismissal of the children, and helping with the Back Pack Buddy ministry. She is the wife of Lloyd Peugh and the mother of Randall, Michele, Matthew and guardian to Joshua and Landon. For the past few years, Kim has dedicated her life to providing a stable, nurturing home and family life for Joshua and Landon. Kim not only provides a home and safe place for these two boys, but she stays active in their educational development and growth. The administration and staff are thankful for Kim’s dedication and the love she shows each day.
