The Kannapolis City Board of Education was proud to honor outstanding representatives from Fred L. Wilson Elementary School at its November meeting.

 

Tedrick Russell:  Tedrick is a 4th grade student at Fred L. Wilson. He is an outstanding student who is respectful, responsible, and an excellent role model. His teacher says he is a perfect recipient for this award and that she could not be prouder of him. We congratulate Tedrick on his outstanding academics and citizenship.

 

Nathaniel Sherer:  Nate is a 4th grader at Fred L. Wilson. He is well admired by the staff and his peers. He is a role model among his peers and a great student all around. He is a wonderful leader and teacher to others in the classroom and a deserving recipient of recognition. Congratulations to Nate for his outstanding character and academics.

 

Pastor Jim Brookshire and Emily Stewart – Memorial Methodist Church:  Pastor Jim Brookshire and Emily Stewart are from Memorial Methodist Church in Kannapolis. Principal Mandi Campbell stated, “These two individuals are simply amazing. They go above and beyond to organize events that ensure the teachers at Fred L. Wilson feel appreciated.” Brookshire and Stewart organized an event to wash the cars of Fred L. Wilson staff members during teacher appreciation week. They also have hosted a Back to School event where more than 80 students received backpacks full of grade specific supplies, and they provide tutoring for students at Fred L. Wilson. Everyone at Fred L. Wilson is extremely grateful for their tremendous service.

 

Cathy Wingler:  Cathy Wingler is a 2nd grade instructional assistant at Fred L. Wilson. This is her 21st year in education, with 17 of these years being at Fred L. Wilson. Mrs. Wingler is one of the most highly requested instructional assistants at Fred L. Wilson. If there is anyone who truly defines the word flexible, it is Cathy Wingler. No matter what is needed or who needs it, Cathy will step up and go the extra mile. Her love for literacy is visible and contagious among students, and we are very grateful for all she does for our students and school system.

 

Angela Mullinax:  Angela Mullinax has been a 1st grade teacher at Fred L. Wilson for four years. This is her 24th year in education. Angela is a proud graduate of A.L. Brown High School. She is the epitome of what all great teachers should be. Most will agree that her personality and love for children are contagious. No matter what each day brings, Mrs. Mullinax has a smile on her face and always puts others before herself. She makes wonderful connections with her students and their families. Every decision Mrs. Mullinax makes provides students with the tools necessary to become lifelong learners and every decision is ALWAYS in the best interest of students. The first grade team would certainly agree she is a joy to work with and knows how to make learning fun and meaningful. Congratulations to Angela Mullinax for her dedication and excellence.
