The Kannapolis City Board of Education was proud to honor outstanding representatives from Forest Park Elementary School at its January meeting.

Josue Hernandez:  Josue is a 3rd grade student at Forest Park. He is extremely caring and genuine. Josue is an excellent student who works hard every day and pushes himself to do his best. He never complains about his work; he never gets frustrated, and he is willing to try new things to find answers. Not only is Josue a great student, but he is also an even better friend. He looks for classmates that need help or a friend, and he makes sure they have one. His teacher says it is “an extra special treat that he never leaves the classroom to go home for the day without wishing me a good afternoon and giving me a hug!”

Felix Hernandez:  Felix is a 4th grader at Forest Park. He is a student who stands out because he is very respectful to others. Felix is a good citizen who always tries to do the right thing and uses Forest Park manners. He has a great sense of humor and gets along well with all his classmates. Felix does a great job with academics and behavior. Every week he comes into class with a smile and asks his teacher “What can I help you with today?” Felix is an outstanding student who always completes his assignments, never has a bad attitude, and always does exactly what is asked of him.

Andrea Jackson:  Andrea Jackson is a wonderful volunteer who gives a great deal of her time to the students and staff of Forest Park. She is at school almost daily, either helping in a classroom or working for the PTO. Andrea is always friendly and helpful and has a great rapport with staff and students. She has volunteered her time to help out in art daily and has helped with many school activities such as a limo field trip, dental bus, and the fall festival.

Lisa Vernon:  Lisa Vernon is a versatile, flexible, and productive teacher assistant. She always keeps a positive attitude no matter what she is helping with. Lisa always seems to be one step ahead of anyone else. She works in five classrooms daily, covers for other teachers who need assistance, completes clerical tasks, and pulls small student groups for help and remediation. Not only does Lisa work hard to support the third grade staff, but she also finds time to ask all her coworkers how they are doing and if she can help them in any way.

Meredith Alford:  Meredith Alford is the Technology Specialist at Forest Park. She is a former first grade teacher who uses what she learned in the classroom and applies it to her technology position. Although Meredith does not have her own classroom, she always helps other teachers, and she treats all the students as her own. She creates files that allow teachers to manage their assessments; she handles all technology concerns, pulls enrichment groups for higher level students, and provides teachers with a technology based reading group. Meredith is not only a great instructional support for the teachers, but also a great moral support. She is always there to help the teachers in any way and she does it with a smile.
