A.L. Brown students and staff are saving the planet one whisker at a time. Male members of the school’s Environmental Club sponsored a Beard-a-thon to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund. Each participant grew a beard in honor of an endangered species and raised money to help save that animal. They agreed to reward the winner by sending all the Beard-a-thon money to the World Wildlife Fund in honor of the winner’s designated species.

Seventeen students and staff participated. After measuring all the beards, A.L. Brown Principal, Kenneth Bowen, was declared the winner. He was growing his beard in honor of endangered chimpanzees.  Altogether, the Beard-a-thon raised nearly $500, which will be sent to the World Wildlife Fund in honor of the Chimpanzee.
