Next up - blogspot.com - use as a way to post homework to students.  You can set up parent email addresses so they get email homework reminder, too :-)  It's part of Google. (Blogger)

bighugelabs.com  This website has different way to use pictures.  There are motivator posters, jigsaw puzzles, magazine covers, and you can even create a movie poster.

You can pull a photo from facebook, dropbox, instagram and flickr  Application:  Use the magazine cover to be the book report.  Students have to synthesize all they know about the book into magazine headlines.

google docs - an oldie but goodie but here’s a new trick.  When you create a doc and grab a picture, google uses tools/research to do citations.  To select a picture use the pull down menu, filter by licensed, not licensed.  Choose MLA, Chicago. Image citations showing. If you pull from Google Scholar you get the whole MLA citation.

PhotoSphere - view things 360 degrees and “visit” places virtually.  Take your own 360 degree photos with ipads, phones, etc.  As you turn with the device you can actually see 360 degrees.  The iPhone/iPad App is called Sphere 360 Photography.

My Create – (NOTE:  this is an App, not a web 2.0)  You can do stop motion photography then add the narration to the video afterwards.  To save you have to export and publish to an external site such as vimeo, facebook, youtube

Storyjumper is next up.  It has props, scenes, photos, to create a story.  You export the story to youTube.

ZooBurst – Use a variety of pictures from their library to tell a story in 3-D.  You can use speech bubbles or just add text boxes.

Remind101- now called Remind  Send reminder messages to parents or students. It is a texting or email program.  It’s good for a coach or band director to send updates to parents for practices or late arrivals, as well as homework reminders.

bubbl.us - brainstorming/bubble maps website.

blabberize - take a picture. Select a mouth, then talk and the picture talks with the mouth moving in sync to the speech.  Application:  Teacher used it to make a trapezoid talk about itself; giving characteristics specific to a trapezoid.  You can upload your own image.

Visuwords.com is a great tool for vocabulary.  How can you use in classes? Lower grades - beginner vocabulary. Nouns from the house 'door, window'.  Higher grades – SAT/ACT review.

Voicethread - both app and web versions.  It is a collaboration tool.  You can use up to 50 voices on one slide.  Responders can use video or screen shots or text. You can even call in to a number given by VoiceThread with your cell phone to leave a voice comment.

ck12.org free online textbooks.  User can read text, see videos. Stop and jot. Use for a flipped classroom.

sync space - open email and click on link to share.  It’s a collaboration space on a like an online whiteboard.  You can email a link to students, then they invite teacher. The teacher can pull up everyone's whiteboard and monitor what they are doing – assist when they get stuck.  Application:  use in geometry class - figure out the angle

Adobe voice.com - an app worth checking out.  Simple way to inform, persuade or inspire.

socrative.com and kahoot – clickers/votes you do with cell phones or tablets (formative assessment tools).  You set it up and give students the number generated.  kahoot has sounds, competitions, shows who is the top winner.  It is a good filler/exit ticket at the end of the day.  Students go to kahoot.it and enter pin that teacher gives them.

zondle has both app and website.  socrative and zondle both allow you to do quizzes.  socrative can do short answer. What do you think was the most important cause? Why?

watch out that you can fall into low level comprehension when asking recall type questions.

safeshare.tv - if you add your Youtube link it will clean up the ads and junk around the edges.  At the end of the video it takes you right back to the beginning of the video so students don’t see other YouTube videos.

diy.org is where you can get badges for accomplishing tasks.  Requires a parent’s permission that is given through a credit card.

Cabarrus County library offers free audio books. Go to the library’s website and follow the directions to download content of entire audiobook.

thinglink.com  adds links to images and video that become hotspots on images to make them interactive.  You can upload a map that becomes a guided 'discovery' lesson

You can take the hyperlink and email to others. It also gives an embed code.

You can hover over something and use it instead of a screen cast.

touchCast – similar to Thinglink.  Both App and Web based versions.  shoot video and embed hotspots in video. Example on the website where the teacher is gone for the day and shot the lesson with documents embedded in his video. Students can access it from anything.
