The Kannapolis Board of Education was proud to recognize outstanding representatives from Forest Park Elementary School during its February board meeting. We are very grateful to the Mary Beth Burgess State Farm Insurance Agency for donating $100 to the Forest Park library in appreciation of the honorees.

  • Krista Wilbanks:  Krista Wilbanks is an outstanding fifth grade student at Forest Park. She is a perfect candidate for recognition because of her integrity, attention to detail, and her zest for achieving the highest level of success at school. She is very kind to her teachers and is eager to please. If she finishes her work early, she always looks for ways to extend her learning so she can take full advantage of instructional time. Krista is also very service-oriented. She is part of the Safety Patrol where she helps to keep Forest Park students safe. She also volunteers to help with feeding and transitions in the special needs classroom.

  • Nathan Lindskog:Nathan Lindskog is an amazing fifth grade student at Forest Park. He is an outstanding example of citizenship inside and outside of the classroom. He is very aware of those around him and their needs. As a result, he is always quick to help his fellow students and teachers whenever needed, even without being asked. He is extremely dependable, compassionate, and hard working. Nathan is also a great advocate for himself, and always strives for his best when completing his work. Not only does Nathan work diligently to reach his academic goals, but he is also self-motivated to reach his goals in life.

  • Shannon Gonzalez:  Shannon Gonzalez is an enthusiastic, dedicated, and dependable parent volunteer at Forest Park. She is always willing to help classroom teachers, school administration, and the front office whenever there is a need. She understands the challenges that our schools and teachers face each day and is always supporting their efforts with kind thoughts and gifts to make them feel valued and supported. Forest Park is a better place because of Shannon.

  • Mary Doehle:Mary Doehle is one of the best substitutes to enter the doors of Forest Park. She is trusted by the entire staff and is always their top choice if they are out of the building. This is because Mary does not skip a beat with classroom instruction and engages students from bell to bell. She brings more than 30 years of experience to each classroom she enters. She also has served as a math tutor for the school. Mary has a passion for education that is unrivaled and continues to be an advocate for the students of public schools.

  • Brenda Wiggins:  Brenda Wiggins is a wonderful and highly energetic school nutrition employee at Forest Park. She has worked in the Forest Park Cafeteria for 18 years and greets children each day as they check out of the breakfast or lunch line. She does so with a smile that will light up a room. She has memorized the lunch number of every single student in the school which shows her dedication and commitment. She is a graduate of A.L. Brown and a proud member of the Kannapolis community.

  • Erin Duncan:  Erin Duncan has been a dedicated teacher at Forest Park for 16 years. Erin goes above and beyond for her students every day. She has high expectations but creates a classroom environment where students love to learn. A teammate describes Erin as “a rock who is the steady hand that leads her grade level through their challenges and successes.” Most importantly, Erin treats all the students of Forest Park as she would her own. She holds high expectations but supports those expectations with compassion and love.
